Let It Bleed – Rolling Stones
The cover features a surreal sculpture by Robert Brownjohn. The image consists of the Let It Bleed record being played by the tone-arm of an antique phonograph and a record-changer spindle supporting several items stacked on a plate in place of a stack of records: a tape canister labeledStones – Let It Bleed, a clock face, a pizza, a tire and a cake with elaborate icing topped by figures representing the band members. The cake portion of the stack was designed by cookery writer Delia Smith.
No Chocolate Cake- Gin Blossoms
“No Chocolate Cake” is the Gin Blossoms fifth full length album and one of the best alternative albums of the last decade. I have nothing to say about this album artwork because it’s pretty plain. Oh, except that it kinda reminds me of Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA.

This 18-song compilation is an interesting mixture of some of the best-known — and a few of the least-favored — versions of Jimmy Webb‘s songs.
Ruining it for everybody- Iwrestledabearonce
For the band, the album serves as the ultimate middle finger to expectations, conventions, and the norm. “We do whatever the fuck we want, and that normally ends up pissing people off,” he declares. “We like to take elements from every style and genre and ruin them for everybody.”
So I guess that’s what their artwork is trying to say. Poor cake!
Heartbeats and Cupcakes- Heartbeats Unlimited
Heartbeats Unlimited released their second mix which aims to raise funds for the AHA (one of the main causes the Heartbeats crew supports) for your listening pleasure. The mix is free to download, but the girls ask that if you’re diggin’ the tunes, you make a donation to the AHA.
This album artwork is very,very, very similar to Kanye West’s Love Lockdown. Only difference is this one’s sweeter.
Whipped Cream and Other Delights– Herb Alpert
“Whipped Cream and Other delights”, released in April of 1965, features an album artwork that has a girl covered in whipped cream. There is a lot of food referred to in the song titles. There is mention of lemons, tangerines, peanuts, green peppers, lollipops, and honey. The art was parodied by several groups including Frivolous Five with Sour Cream and Other Delights and the comedian Pat Cooper with his Spaghetti Sauce and Other Delights.
Mysterious to Me- Fleetwood Mac
Not Fleetwood Mac’s finest album artwork but it really does make us wonder why this ape is eating a book and a cake, and wait…are those tears? Most of all, made me wonder what the guys behind this artwork were thinking at the time they were brainstorming. Hmmm…
How We Divide the Cake- Charlie Khan
“How We Divide The Cake” is the first release from the “The Inimitable” Charlie Khan, a wandering bug eyed pup who skirts around the edges of reasonably respectable society much the same way mad drunks hang around outside banks to pester their clientelle. A short noveletto about love, madness, promiscuity, deviancy, and the socio-political problems of latter day Victorian society, this 20 minute EP reveals a glimmer of Khan’s misanthropy and malicious glee.
The artwork doesn’t match his upbeat songs but well…
