When it comes to unique DVD packaging designs, the meat concept is not something so unique but I still find it clever. It is a bit conventional and, in a way, predictable especially if use it for a gore film like Texas Chainsaw Massacre or anything that has to do with meat. But what I love about the designs below is that even though they’re not screaming for attention, the idea is so solid and concise. They’re not cluttered like designs with half-baked concepts that just add random elements.

British Beat
This is a CD cover design for an independent record label, showcasing the best of British. Instead of merely covering it with funky photoshopped graphics, the designers Stylo Studio went for a meat-packaging spoof, replacing the words “British Beef” with “British Beat”.
Shidlas- Saliami Postmodern
This is the CD package design of Lithuanian musician SHIDLAS, album named “Saliami Postmodern”. The CD is vacuumed like real salami and the sticker with contents is like it would be from a meat shop. It’s a great example of how you can get creative with the actual disc (the CD label).
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 30th Anniversary Meat Case
The case is made up of your typical super jewel case, which has a piece of glossy cardboard (designed to look like a pack of fresh minced meat) glued to the back of it. The cardboard looks surprisingly good and detailed even though it’s quite a cheap trick.
The jewel case then fits nicely into a partially clear plastic slipcase, featuring a couple of actual stickers for the back, which makes all the more sense when you see them together with the minced meat back cover. Truly a wonderful idea and quite well put together.
Taxidermia
Pretty similar to Texas Chainsaw’s but this one is in digipack and is in a styrofoam with a saran wrap.
Meat Shorts
Branding the consumer as “a piece of meat,” these innovative shorts come in a realistic meat package. Not only is the product unique in itself, but the package stays consistent with the theme and will definitely capture the consumer’s interest.
Lady Gaga’s Meat Costume
We cannot not include the Gaga on this list.
