Stare at these images for one whole minute without blinking and you will get goose bumps all over. The ‘paper-cut’ pictures of kids pasted on eerie photographs of the woods, lake, and mountains have a haunting effect. It’s as if these kids were murdered in these places and that they are now lonely wandering spirits […]
Do you remember Kanye West’s album art drama? That seems like very old news but apparently, the guy is still not over it (maybe not until Nov 22, the official album release date…). He used the CD Packaging ‘controversy’ to promote his physical albums and when the issue became boring and everyone began to put […]
This CD artwork took more than 350 hours to complete. It is constructed from styrofoam, balsa wood, coloured paper and cotton wool which were shot as part of a diorama. (Check ‘the making’ below) Inspired by the many sample tracks on the album from days gone by – everything from 70s funk to 80s electro […]
Here are 12 albums that use type (letters) as the album art. No glossy portraits, no bling-bling, just letters made into artwork. Brilliant! Artist: Icarus Title: Carnivalesque Label: Not Applicable Year: 2005 Designer: Ollie Brown, Sam Britton Carnivalesque’s CD packaging is a great example of anti-design. Musicians: Roots Manuva and DJ/Producer Wrong Tom Album: Duppy Writer Year: 2010 CD Designer: Tony McDermott When I first saw this CD packaging, two things instantly came to mind- Archie comics and Casper the friendly Ghost (the Movie). The floating guy (Roots Manuva) does look a bit like Chuck Clayton from Archies, don’t you agree? […]
When it comes to selling your music, idea, or any product, you have to be unique and innovative not only with your content but also with how your product looks. Your product’s packaging has to captivate the customers so that they are willing to go through the trouble of actually checking out the actual product. […]
A kick-ass CD Packaging artwork has the ability to stop on our tracks and actually hold the CD to examine it closer. Then we say “hmmm…interesting”, examine it more, then buy it or put it back. But definitely when we get home, the band’s name sticks to our head…then we google it, maybe tweet about […]
