USB flash drives are now the favorite of many businessmen and self-employed individuals not only because they use them to contain their files but also because USB flash drives<\/a> serve as excellent promotional items. They do look handsome, don\u2019t they?<\/p>\n

Lots of photographers today put their projects and portfolios in USB flash drives. This is an intelligent strategy. Imagine if one influential client carries your USB flash drive, and it has your name or website printed on it…then they\u2019re promoting your brand effortlessly. And the best thing about it is that these clients PAID for their USB flash drives ( of course since it’s the container of the actual product they bought- photographs). How clever is that? People will pay you for your advertising! Too clever.\u00a0And since USB flash drives have a modern appeal, there is a bigger chance people will actually get curious and possibly contact you.<\/p>\n

The disadvantage is that it requires that people look closer at the USB flash drives before we can even tell if your marketing strategy works. You cannot sell when you\u2019re not that visible. But this \u2018close contact\u2019 is much better because although not too many people notice it, you’re sure that these are the ones who are likely to purchase your products or services. You\u2019re not just aiming your gun to random people, you\u2019re aiming them at the right bunch.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a scenario to illustrate my point:<\/p>\n

For example, if you have a client who is an event coordinator, then he\u2019s in the circle of event coordinators, which means you\u2019re advertising is very, very close to your market. So let’s just say this event coordinator has a presentation somewhere at a cafe and he takes off your USB bracelet and plugs it in his laptop. The small group of people he\u2019s with would notice that- especially if they\u2019re all just strangers waiting for topics for small talk. And you know what happens\u2026they\u2019ll talk about your company.<\/p>\n

Their conversation would most likely go like this:<\/p>\n

“Hey, that’s a cool USB. I thought it was just a bracelet.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

“yeah it’s from our event photographer. He stores the soft copies of our photos in flash drives but there’s still lots of space so I’m using it. Pretty neat,huh?”<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Cool. Hey, may I have his phone number? I need one more photographer for my event tomorrow.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

I guess I made my point. But there’s one more thing that we can learn from the example above. Can you guess what it is? The other important point is that we should ONLY come up with really creative designs if you want it to work. In my example above, it would not work if the USB flash drive he\u2019s carrying is just plain. It just worked because its design is something that\u2019s worth talking about.<\/p>\n

You don\u2019t expect people to say \u201cwow, lovely USB drive\u2026so smooth and shiny…and so..black\u201d. That\u2019s just too weird. Everything about your USB flash drives \u2013color, materials, shape, etc- should reflect your company and your clients. And if possible, the design of your USB flash drives should be really attention-grabbing.<\/p>\n
