A bad mastering means a failed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/?s=vinyl+record+album+release\">vinyl record album release<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You also have to keep in mind that vinyl records are mastered differently. Since vinyl records are analog formats, digital mastering of tracks will just cause different kinds of playback issues like distortions, skipping needles, lack of dynamics and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To avoid this, you need to look for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/?s=good+mastering+engineer\"><strong>good mastering engineer<\/strong><\/a>. You want to make your vinyl record worth all the expenses that\u2019s why you want to have as many tracks on them. But I beg to disagree.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want your <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/custom-vinyl-records\/\"><b>custom vinyl records <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to be worthwhile then I advise you to watch out for the playback time of your chosen record size and avoid jampacking it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are three standard sizes for vinyl records that are available in two different rpms. Here\u2019s a table of the total hypothetical playback time for each:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">33 rpm<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">45 rpm<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7\u201d<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">14 minutes<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8-12 minutes<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10\u201d<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">24-30 minutes<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">18-24 minutes<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">12\u201d<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">30-44 minutes<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">24-30 minutes<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re planning on a full album for your first custom vinyl record album then please consider the playback time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Instead of trying to squeeze your tracks for that one vinyl record, I suggest you have two 12\u201d records for your album if you plan on having 11 to 17 tracks for it.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-32514\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/two-12-records4-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/two-12-records4-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/two-12-records4-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/two-12-records4-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/two-12-records4.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You also have to be aware that these are hypothetical which means that these playback times are not exact. With that said, I suggest you give some space for your music to breathe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I would also like to remind that vinyl records are analog formats which means they literally need space for the music information. So imagine having too much, it would feel so cramped and I bet the needles will have a hard time following the grooves.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><\/b><b>December and November<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-32515\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/December-and-November-vinyl-records.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/December-and-November-vinyl-records.jpeg 452w, https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/December-and-November-vinyl-records-300x267.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When thinking of a release date for your vinyl album, we suggest you avoid the months of December and November at all cost. These months are the start of the holidays and we all know what it\u2019s paired with: Christmas songs (and that means Christmas releases from much bigger acts).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes, whenever the holidays set in and that Christmas feelings begin to fill the atmosphere, people prefer those \u201cChristmasy\u201d music.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will be no room for any music that is not related to Christmas. And I am very sure your first vinyl record release will not be fit for the holidays&#8230;so yeah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re only in the planning stage of your album and you\u2019ve calculated that things would be complete around these months, then I suggest you delay your release and have it next year. And I assure you that you will have better results.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Ordering Too Much<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-32516\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/ordering-too-much.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/ordering-too-much.png 554w, https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/ordering-too-much-300x199.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I know it can be quite a shock when you get to know how much vinyl pressing costs, especially when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/vinyl-pressing\">pressing vinyl records<\/a> and printing of the packaging are done by two different companies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We can never deny its expensiveness and we can\u2019t blame pressing plants if they set a minimum number of units per an order. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But you don\u2019t have to worry because most of them are already offering <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/vinyl-pressing\">short run vinyl pressing<\/a> in 100 units<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are still at a point where you are undecided about the amount of units to order, then it would be best to survey your audience. Out of that survey, you can then estimate the possible number of units sold.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another reason to keep it in low numbers is the fact that you will be dealing with music stores. Plus, do you really want to be stressed?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Releasing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/?s=vinyl+album\">vinyl album<\/a> should never be rushed. It should be given the time it needs, because as much as it hogs money from musicians, it also needs time to be reproduced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you must know, pressing vinyl records takes a long time. It would leave waiting for around two to four months and that would depend on the pressing plant you\u2019ve chosen. Moreover, if the pressing plant does not do all of the steps for manufacturing a vinyl record, then it would surely take time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pressing plants will also send you a test pressing first, before they start the actual production of your <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/blog\/custom-vinyl-records\/\"><b>custom vinyl records<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. And I suggest you don\u2019t rush examining that too or you might regret it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unifiedmanufacturing.com\/vinyl-pressing\"><strong>test pressing<\/strong><\/a> is your last chance at correcting faults and other issues with your vinyl record.
