MERCH: Screen Printing VS Digital Printing

SCREEN PRINTING is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh (silkscreen) to support an ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink which can be pressed through the mesh as a sharp-edged image. Screen printing is more labor intensive because each color needs an individual screen. So if your design has 5 colors, we need to come up with 5 screens for each color. Screen printing is usually used for larger orders. Most custom design companies will use screen printing if you order multiple shirts of the same design. It is easier and more cost efficient to use screen printing to mass produce than it is digital printing. On the other hand, DIGITAL PRINTING is pretty much like printing a shirt on a paper printer. The machine is bigger of course.  Digital printing is recommended for short run orders because it’s much faster and easier than making stencils. It allows you to order single shirts. A customer can get a multiple color design without having to have a screen made for each color. It’s much easier compared to screen printing. Digital printing works better on white or light colored shirts . It is also advised for those designs with a lot of detail and a lot of colors. __________________________________________________________________ Unified Manufacturing is an L.A. -based one-stop-shop that offers very affordable CD/DVD/USB replication, custom printing, promotional products, warehousing and fulfillment and many more.
